I don’t know why we decided to stop at Bucee’s, but we got sufficiently tangled in the chaos…it took a long time to get gas, buy DEF and get the hell out of there. Oh my lord, summer traveling traffic!

The sign people forgot the s.

We arrived at Warren and Renee Goodwin’s house in Tyler, TX, that had a perfect place to park the trailer in the shade. Jim and Warren were at Gainesville High School together and hadn’t seen each other since 1969!

Warren’s pride and joy, his 1957 Chevrolet Belair. He hadn’t run it for awhile, so it took a little extra care to get it running again. We decided to take it for a ride around the block.

Oh no. Just around the corner from the house, we had the most perfect flat tire. Hilarious. These are OLD tires, so no wonder.

But she’s a beauty!

Here we are, with the grandbaby that lives next door. Such sweet, generous people! An authentic slice of traditional Texas culture – and she was the first civil engineer working in the oil rigs off-shore for BP. Warren’s a doctor.
